10 Best Multicolored Graphic Sweaters

We couldn’t be more thrilled that sweater season is upon us. After enjoying the heat of summer, it’s about time to layer up with the latest knits we’ve been coveting since the AW12 shows. Graphic prints have been an ongoing trend over the past several years, but this season it’s all about the big three for knitwear: bold embellishment, bright graphics and masculine cuts. Perfect for pairing with everything from jeans to a pencil skirt (we’re obsessed with the way Kate Bosworth rocked the look in Burberry), graphic sweaters are on our fashion radar. Here’s our Top 10 roundup of knits that add a dramatic design element to your autumnal ensembles:
Diane von Furstenberg Tinkit Sweater, shopbop.com, $275
DVF is the queen of graphic prints, and we love how she toned it down a bit in this easy pullover featuring abstract leaves on a neutral backdrop. We also dig the brown and pink version for a feminine twist.
MinkPink Magic Dragon Knit, nastygal.com, $78
Proving sweaters can simultaneously keep you sexy and snug, this MinkPink statement piece has us absolutely obsessed. With textured panels, a trippy technicolor print and an oval cutout back, we’d pair this with lemon yellow skinnies and platform booties for a casual Cali-cool vibe.
3.1 Phillip Lim Breakup Sweater, farfetch.com, $455
Phillip Lim’s graphics are tongue-in-cheek, adding a dose of humor to traditional silhouettes. The Roy Lichtenstein-inspired design is clever and sure to be an It-Girl street style staple. Rock it with leather shorts to look effortlessly chic in an I’m-too-cool-to-care kind of way.
Milly Dakota Sweater, millyny.com, $265
Green, bordeaux and navy top our winter wardrobe color palette, and the dash of green on the flirty asymmetrical stripes add a pop to the black-and-white motif. We love the contrast cuffs and covered-up yet fitted bodice.
Markus Lupfer Sequined Red Lip Joey Sweater, shopbop.com, $495
By now you know our obsession with all things surrealist in fashion, and this sweater is sartorial perfection with an oversized pucker resplendent in red sequins. The slouchy silhouette is made for pairing with leather leggings or patterned skinnies, and the deep V neckline reveals just enough decolletage to balance the oversized fit.
Madewell Photobook Cardigan, madewell.com, $95
Every woman needs a classic camel cardigan in her wardrobe — we love the refreshing twist with Aztec-inspired, Crayola-hued geometric shapes prancing across the front. Worn over a simple tank or button-up blouse, it’s the perfect toss-it-on-and-go style solution.
Stella McCartney Giannina Intarsia Wool Sweater, net-a-porter.com, $970
We simply couldn’t offer a Top 10 of graphic prints without mentioning our favorite of the AW12 season, Stella McCartney. The black and cobalt combo is street-chic savvy, perfect for tossing on with a fitted bottom and color blocked clutch.
H&M Merino Wool Sweater, hm.com, $49.95
This ethereal hunter green wool pullover is both whimsical and wonderfully practical. The dreamy scenery is printed on a silk-front, making this mixed-media number a price-is-right statement piece.
J. Crew Collection Beaded Colorblock Sweater, jcrew.com, $198
This sweater hits on every major trend (embellishment, colorblocking, streamlined cut) while still retaining the signature J. Crew prepster perfect vibe. It’s a boyish look made fiercely feminine, much like Jenna Lyons herself.
Free People Flower Power Cardi, freepeople.com, $168
It was tough to pick just one of the seasonal sweater offerings from boho-bedlam Free People — we want them all! This floral thigh-grazing number is comfortable and romantic while still maintaining a hippie-chic edge with an oversized print, roomy pockets and sleeves just made for rolling up.
