Beauty Item of the Day: The Alchemy of Egyptian Magic

We’re all for getting rid of dry skin. We’re also all for looking like Kate Hudson. It won’t happen without a lot of cosmetic surgery, but we can at least try our best at mimicking her dewy looking skin. She and a few other celebrities swear by our Beauty Item of the Day: Egyptian Magic.

The product comes in a small white jar with red and blue writing. When we first opened it, it looked like a solid form of petroleum jelly. It had no smell and was very nondescript. Egyptian Magic is a great example of how the simplest products will surprise you. To use the product, we scooped out a small amount and started to rub the solid gel in our hands to soften the jelly—it began to smell like olive oil (which also happens to be the number one ingredient.)

Immediately, our hands felt softer from just one application, which makes sense, as the ingredients listed are olive oil, beeswax, honey, bee pollen, royal jelly and bee propolis (which is a resin that bees collect). All of these can be found in nature and are known to make skin softer, help it glow and work as natural anti-agers. Don’t be mistaken—this isn’t your ordinary petroleum jelly. While most jelly has the tendency to sit on top of your skin, we found Egyptian Magic to absorb much more nicely and really help with our skin issues.

We recommend using Egyptian Magic at night right before going to sleep (incorporate it into your nightly ritual!) and not during the day, as the product is a bit more on the greasy side and needs time to absorb into your skin before working its magic. If you use it on your face, it has the tendency to shine and look a bit oily, so it would be best to use this moisturizer as a treatment rather than as a facial cream for the day.

Another amazing feature to note was that an area we rubbed over a fresh scab on the knee, it was noticeably better the next day. We love all-in-one multipurpose creams, and Egyptian Magic is certainly no exception. The product can be used for dry skin, healing burns, cuts and scrapes and as a hair conditioner. Although simple, this product is a must try for all!
