Dessert Lover’s Dream to Open in East Village

Clio Goodman knows that bakeries and pastry shops of the traditional sense have been overplayed, so she’s opening Puddin’ By Clio—a dessert shop built around pudding.
Growing up in a family of serious cooks, Goodman followed in those footsteps and pursued a culinary career, where she graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and worked for Daniel Boulud, chef-owner of several three-Michelin-star restaurants in NYC, including Café Boulud and DB Bistro Moderne.
Perfecting her recipe for classic stovetop pudding, Goodman has left the upscale restaurant scene to open this little shop.
With its white oak trim and wide open kitchen, Puddin’ By Clio will open in the East Village at 102 St. Marks Place on January 6. Menu highlights include banana upside-down cake with a pudding filling($5 slice, $40 whole cake); caramel macchiato parfaits layered with brownie pieces, pudding, and caramel drizzles ($6.50 for 5 ounces); key lime pudding pie ($5 slice, $25 whole pie); and nineteen different nuts, creams, cakes, crumbles, and fruit to top on her plain pudding ($1 each).
