Fashion Wanderlust Fix with Assouline’s Chic Travel Title

Looking for a quick fix to cure your wanderlust desires? Try American Fashion Travel: Designers On The Go on for size.

The title alone epitomizes the thrilling desire for travel that Assouline and the Council of Fashion Designers of America were aiming to achieve while publishing their latest, and definitely most adventurous, photography book.

American Fashion Travel grants readers a sneak peek into the glamorous and jet-set world of fashion royalty and their travel habits, destinations and everything in between. Ever wanted to know what Donna Karan finds absolutely necessary in her carry-on bag? Or in what country Tory Burch gets her most efficient shopping done? Or how about Yigal Azrouel’s favorite hotel? These globetrotters have spilled it all!

The CDFA started in 1962 to advance fashion as an established aspect of the world’s art and culture. Not to mention the fact that beautiful Diane von Furstenberg is the organization’s president. Over 350 of America’s greatest fashion designers, both established and up-and-coming, join together to celebrate the beauty of their branded designs.

Members of the CDFA were invited to respond to a travel questionnaire, as well as to submit any photographs, sketches, memorabilia and/or personal anecdotes for American Fashion Travel. Some of them gave a quick answer and snapshot (Tommy Hilfiger), while others really got involved (Betsey Johnson’s scribbled photo-montages).

We’ve certainly been on a great virtual journey with this book—it covers everything! The world’s best markets, snow, shopping secrets, hotels, jet lag remedies, museums and more. Some of our favorites? Nanette Lepore always remembers having “a bikini and a cocktail dress” in her carry on and Vena Cava‘s Sophie Buhai is constantly on the lookout for an “old hotel bar” to cool her traveling nerves.

Purchase American Fashion Travel ($45) now from the Assouline website to learn of not only the world’s hidden gems, but also your favorite designers’ preferences. Who knows, among the glitz and glamour of the fashion world’s most fabulous travel destinations and recommendations, you may even pick up a sweet tip or two for your next trip!
