Flowers in December
As stated in the classic Mazzy Star song, winter florals are blooming everywhere despite the freezing temps and white stuff appearing atop of what used to be green a few months ago. The once high-contrasted prints are now dark and dramatic— making a nice, necessary twist to correspond with the climate change.
Jil Sander, Celine, Mary Katrantzou, and Givenchy are just a few designers who have hopped onto the gloomy gardenia theme, with prints that are big, bold, and basically couldn’t be any more perfect for the holiday season.
Everything from shirts to blouses to high heel booties have been taking on the winter floral look. Rodarte for Opening Ceremony offers an impeccable find for $528 with a black base and lace-up front; it is edgy, yet sophisticated and adorable.
Madden Girl has a great alternative for those who (like myself!) are shopping on a budget. The Mellony Pump is just $45 and practically screams, “Purchase me!” The Gap also offers a much more affordable flowery find. The floral-print sweater has a dark blue base under reds, purples, and whites for just $60.
