Before I came here I had read an article about Slovak girls in New York. One of them was Katarina Hybenova who is also a founder of Bushwickdaily.com. I was so excited about the whole thing so I contacted her straight away and asked her if I can write for Bushwick Daily as well. Of course, at that time I had no idea what Bushwick is ..
Now I do.. thanks to the best guide of the world´s most interesting neighborhood.
Me?
I am curious. I like people and their stories. I can be easily enchanted by visually beautiful things whether art or just an accidental occurrence of beauty.
Bushwick Daily..
.. is a neighborhood blog based in arguably most creative neighborhood, and the home to the New York art scene. I started the blog in 2010 as my personal photoblog, and it has grown since then a lot. My collaborators and I are documenting Bushwick and its whereabouts using words, photography, video and new media tools. Bushwick Daily readers are usually people interested in Bushwick and the ideas developed here.
Interesting things about work in the gallery
People I meet, and the fact that I really get an in depth insight of art.
The art..
I am personally really into new media – internet and technology stuff – something smart, beautiful and moving.
What makes an artshow a good artshow
Good art and great concept, the idea that brought particular pieces together. I also expect to be moved and intellectually and/or emotionally challenged. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxms ,,,]][[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[[

( The last couple of lines were produced by my cat Shelby and her walking around my keyboard, I guess she wanted to have a say in this tooo:-) )
Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
I’ll be doing the same kind of thing I’m doing only in a much more awesome scale. And NY Times will totally interview me
); also I will have a weekend house at a beach or at a lake; I will be with the same person I am now and with the same cat, which actually leads me to believe that minus a couple of details, I am living my dream life already now.
I asked Julie Torres about Katarina and what she really does for other artists
I can’t speak for anyone else, but personally, I have mad, crazy love for Katarina and all she does. What’s not to like?? She tirelessly supports and promotes those around her, especially artists, and she’s a great resource for finding out about what’s going on out there. She’s a gifted photographer and a natural storyteller. Katarina has a kind of magic about her and everything she does.
She’s also pushed me, on a personal level, to attack my own projects and take them a little bit further. Sometimes I’ll tell her about an idea and she’ll say, ‘Yeah that’s good, but it could be better. Keep going with it.’ That’s true friendship and it’s invaluable to me. Katarina is the shit. Her hard work, talent and boundless spirit inspire me in a meaningful way.
What is it about NYC that you like the most?
Creative energy.
