Let Fads Stay in Fashion, Not Your Diet

So, the rest of the world has figured out that Victoria and David Beckham have found a mold, shared it with a few people, and then broke it to pieces. Or, at least that’s what most people believe. The real secret is that there is none. Here are a few tips to help you channel your inner Posh and keep those pounds off.

Set goals — Figure out what it is you want to accomplish and set a realistic goal, short term and long term. Planning ahead will keep you from getting overwhelmed by thinking you’re under the gun and on a rapidly approaching deadline.

Prep matters — Think of the foods that you love and work with them. Most of the time, when you’re eating “bad” food, it’s not the actual food but the way it’s prepared. Comparing baked chicken to fried chicken is kind of like comparing Manolo’s to Pumas. There’s a time and place for everything.

Know your protein — Common sources of protein are usually already in your diet. Fish, lean red meat, chicken, and leafy green vegetables are great sources of it. Also, in moderation, dairy products are greats sources of protein.

Avoid white foods — Diet killer: CARBS, CARBS, CARBS! The rule of thumb is to limit your intake of white foods, meaning white bread, white pasta, white potatoes, and white rice. Carbs don’t necessarily make you gain weight right off the bat; instead, they slow down your metabolism.

Sinead Watkins says:

Cost is a big factor, as to what to buy, with that being said sometimes i take the cheaper way out.
Every other day someone is telling you to eat this its good for you, then on the next day, they say no that’s bad for you. So many different opinions. And sometimes i wonder does anyone really know. We are all individuals and our body reacts differently to different foods

Medina Vinson says:

The one thing about developing better eating habits i dont like is that better foods tend to cost more. It’s actually cheaper to eat garbage, which is disturbing. Although it may be financially cheaper, you’re paying for it with your body and health.

Kyle A says:

I totally agree with the cost of healthier foods. I find myself walking up and down the isles of the grocery store adding things up and trying to budget, lol. Then I think a hospital bill would be so much more. Just like eating certain foods should bee done in moderation, show should healthy choices when it comes to shopping. Don’t overwhelm yourself.

Angie says:

Nice article… I think a lot of people don’t know that anytime white is bad for you… Carbs are evil!!

Kyle A says:

Carbs can be good. Ill leave that for another article. Stay tuned

This is great. Finally, someone’s explanation that is simple and straight forward about eating right. Most of time when I read articles about foods and what to eat and what not to eat, I finish the article more confused than when I started. Keep it up.

Kyle A says:

Yes, depending on what you read, the content can be confusing
