“Live From New York It’s Artist Cristy Corso”

Cristy was the first real artist I met in New York. I was so excited! Because this is the reason why I am here — to meet various artist and to get more inspiration for my work. After only a few hours my plane had landed it all started. Actually, when I met Cristy is when it all started. I asked her if I can write a post about her on my blog and she totally agreed. She sent me her full version Bio. But as my English is not that advanced in writing articles, I´ve decided to write simply about Cristy from what I viewed…

Cristy C. Corso is young female artist from Chicago, who expresses herself in many creative ways. She puts her nose into fine art, photography, writing and other producing areas. CCC represents pop cultural of today. I can say she is international known, just to give you the proof — I am from Europe and I know her. She is also internationally published in places like books as well. Cristy won quite a few awards and soon her story, based on true life events, will be out. Should be quite dramatic & pretty darn funny, says Cristy. That´s what all people are looking for, right? An insight into life of others. So, let´s continue with that:

The food
I love not eating meat, little dairy & a little gluten. Although, I can be kind of a tough ass on the exterier. I consider myself a bit of a sensitive person physically so what I see, hear, eat, the texture of fabrics on my body not only effect me but my work. Its pretty weird.

Favorite ice-cream flavor
I am obsessed with coconut milk vanilla flavor. Forgot the brand.

Dress for art/gallery opening
I am often mixing a lot of accessories that have an art object appeal, with an urban chic look, with a pop of colors I’m inspired by lately. I often use openings as a time of self expression but I often look like my paintings or photos at the end of the day.

First kiss
By a good Roman Catholic boy with over sixteen brothers & sisters. I grew up in a smaller town just outside of Chicago.

Music for inspiration
I love a wide veriety depending on the commission, work I’m making, photo shoot I’m looking for themes, locations, or styling. Lately, I am listening to 1970′s classic rock but can’t tell you I like it. It just fits my life today in my country studio, mixed with my place downtown Chicago, & listening to the jukebox in the womb. I have over 70 records I found that are mostly from the 1970′s & making some stuff out of them too for my visual narrative, An American Maze, you mentioned.

I would never..
.. Make realism anymore. Like John Baldessari said back in his day, and wrote, I will not create anymore boring art. I am doing ok with that mantra lately.

Favorite thing about NYC
There is a story visually, poetically, & often an entire novel around every corner. Things happen fast & finding any medium, tools, time, & skill to capture it is truly having a creative NYC moment.
