Patrik Ervell Now Designing Womenswear
Patrik Ervell is the man behind elegant and minimalist fashion designs that have captured audiences on a global scale. After premiering his menswear fashions in 2005 at Opening Ceremony, a multifaceted and creative New York concept store, Ervell’s garments have become staples in the closets of many a fashionable man. The talented American designer is praised for his artistic use of unorthodox materials in his collections, which tend to set his pieces apart from similar simple apparel. If you spot the utilization of vintage parachutes, splash-dyed silks or gold foil, it is sure to be an Ervell original.
Following the realization that his menswear clothing appealed to the female buyer, Ervell recently extended his stylistic vision to include chic and androgynous womenswear. In fact, the runway for his Spring/Summer 2012 line features both male and female models, and flawlessly incorporates structural and form-fitting female pieces with stylish male essentials. Ervell’s novel use of red, green, yellow and blue reflect summertime’s natural beauty, and are applied as either accents or features. For example, his women’s Combination Collar Shirt exudes sophistication with a colorful and eye-popping collar, while his men’s Hawaiian Shirt makes a strikingly bold statement.
Ervell’s work has earned him nominations for CFDA’s Swarovski Award for Menswear, the CFDA Menswear Designer of the Year and GQ’s Best New Menswear Designer in America. He also proudly presents his collections twice annually at New York Fashion Week.
Fashionistas, this designer is climbing the style ladder and is definitely one to keep an eye on!
