Shoe Organizing 101
Shoes are some of the hardest items to organize, mostly due to their size and shape (and the fact that, let’s face it, we simply have so many pairs!). We all have those pointy heels, bent flats and smelly sneakers squeezed inside our closet, but how to make our organization of some of our favorite footwear a bit more aesthetically pleasing? Never fear, we’re here to help!
De-Clutter: Before you even start thinking of buying a shoe rack, you must first de-clutter your shoe collection. You probably have outdated shoes or pairs that are just getting old, small, scratched or ruined. Throw them out! Or, if they are in wearable condition but you are not loving them anymore, donate them to charity or just sell them online. eBay is a great place to start, and they even have some pointers on how to sell used shoes online.
The Perfect Fit: If you want a simple sliding solution for your shoe organization, try an under the bed method. This shoe storage bag from Bed, Bath and Beyond is perfect, and has a little handle so you can slide out your shoe collection. This kind of storage can even come with handy dandy pockets, which can fit any little add ons you desire. A shoe cleaner? Insoles? If you are a shoe junkie, you may need these extra materials to complete your collection!
You can even use a traditional shoe rack or an over-the-door shoe rack for your shoe organizing. If you want to get really serious, and want the best of the best, try the Bissa Shoe Cabinet by Ikea. Yes, there are such things as shoe cabinets, and they are perfect for organizing your shoes!
Shoe Travel: Going on a trip? You may need to look your best when taking your photos, and wearing the same shoes every day is not very unique. Travel bags for shoes are an organized way to make your packing easier. If you want better protection and a luxurious style for your travelling, try this shoe suitcase from Brownrigg Interiors. Walk your way around the world with these stylish and useful shoe organizers!
Need More Ideas?: Check out celebrity shoe closets for inspiration of organization. You might like to get sky-high shelves like the stars, or even create your own shoe closet!
