Simply Delicious Smoothies
When it comes to quenching your thirst with a delicious and nutritous drink, nothing compares to a sweet and sensational smoothie! Health-conscious consumers, don’t fret—”sweet” does not equate to “sugary” in this instance. In fact, the best tasting smoothies are made from fresh and frozen products with no sugar added. Smoothies have become an extremely popular beverage of choice over the past few years, and even smoothie-targeted shops like Jamba Juice and Booster Juice have opened their doors to satisfy the ever-increasing smoothie-loving clientelle.
Not only are smoothies yummy and filling, but they are also an awesome way to replenish your body with essential vitamins and nutrients (especially after a wild work out). We encourage adding healthy supplements, like protein powder (we recommend Vega plant protein), to any smoothie recipe.
Many smoothie bars, like the aforementioned Jamba Juice and Booster Juice, offer numerous supplements to help magnify things like energy and concentration. Thankfully, these additions do not add much flavor to the drink, so you are able to indulge while reaping the benefits. Smoothies can also disguise the taste of numerous dreaded vegetables like raw kale. Oh, and did we mention how easy smoothies are to make? It is as simple as throwing all of the desired ingredients into a blender and pressing the start button.
Anyone can make a basic smoothie, but if you are feeling more experimental, then here are a few unique smoothie recipes to try out.
Sweet Strawberry and Kale Creation
1 bag of frozen strawberries
1 ripe frozen banana (Freeze the banana at home.)
1 handful of fresh kale
Plain yogurt (Add sparingly until the smoothie is at your desired consistency. We recommend Silk Live!® Soy in Plain.)
1 cup of ice cubes
Blend all items together in a blender. This sweet-tasting smoothie is definitely a crowd pleaser and you cannot even taste the kale!
Marvelous Melon Mixture
1 scoop of vanilla-flavored protein powder
1/2 large ripe avocado
1 peach (feel free to use frozen peaches)
1/4 medium sized melon (we recommend honeydew or cantaloupe)
Blend all items together in a blender and add ice if the drink is too thick for your liking. The final product should have a pale yellow-greenish coloring and should smell spectacular. You would never guess that this fresh smoothie has avocado in it! Avocado is considered a “good fat” amongst many and adds a splendid creamy dimension to the beverage.
Vegan Peanut Butter and Jelly Frenzy
1 frozen banana (organic)
3/4 cup of vanilla flavored hemp milk (organic)
3 tablespoons of rolled oats (organic)
3 tablespoons of hemp protein (organic)
2 tablespoons of ground golden flax seed (organic)
2 tablespoons of peanut butter (organic)
2 teaspoons of grape jam (organic) *feel free to try different berry jams!
This smoothie tastes just like the childhood favorite PB & J sandwich. Peanut butter is a great smoothie addition, as it provides protection against many heart diseases (thanks to the overload of monounsaturated fats!).
