Sneak Peek: The Carrie Diaries
New York’s favorite Manolo Blahnik addict Carrie Bradshaw is back! But things are a little different, to say the least.
Premiering on The CW Network in January 2013 will be a TV adaption of Candace Bushnell’s novels The Carrie Diaries and Summer and the City. Bushnell is best known for her mega-hit HBO series and movies, Sex and the City, based on the eponymous book, starring Sarah Jessica Parker as Ms. Bradshaw.
Taking place in the mid 1980s, the series will revolve around young Carrie’s drama-filled teenage years as she survives high school in suburban Connecticut. But when her father offers her the opportunity to intern at a law firm, Carrie, portrayed by actress Sophia Robb (Soul Surfer), jumps on the offer and meets her first love: Manhattan. Through her exploits and adventures with new gal pal, Larissa, editor of Interview magazine, Carrie’s eyes are opened to the possibilites that await her.
The series will be penned by Sex and the City writer Amy B. Harris and produced by Gossip Girl and Hart of Dixie executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, Len Goldenstein and Bushnell herself.
With an amazing team behind the production, it sounds like The Carrie Diaries will be filled with the same fun and drama for which Sex and the City was known (minus the sexual antics and never-ending supply of double entendres). I wonder what will take the place of the ever-present cosmopolitan cocktail? Will you be tuning into The Carrie Diaries next year?
