Staff Favorites: July

Ever wonder what’s in the closet of an editor? As nosy as it is, we all do (a guilty pleasure, if we do say so ourselves!) There’s something strangely alluring about seeing the insides of someone’s tote; it’s like getting a quick glance of their inner life. Every chance we get, we like to poke our noses in a friend’s makeup bag.

Without further ado, we present to you…a peek at Dual Show editors’ faves for July!

Lorelei Marfil (Editor-In-Chief): Carmex Strawberry Tube
“Don’t laugh…but I wear this all year round. It’s particularly great for the summer because it’s lightweight while protecting your lips from the sunshine with its SPF. It gives me just the right shine for my lips!”

Jacqueline Vasquez (Fashion Editor): KORRES Wild Rose Mineral Setting Powder
“July in New York City is tough when it comes to my beauty routine. The second I leave my well air-conditioned home, all my makeup seems to melt right off. This year I was super excited when I found a powder that keeps it all in place and helps me maintain my polished look. It’s KORRES Mineral Setting Powder and it’s incredible—super lightweight, never cakes and it takes away all the shine while keeping my makeup looking fresh (not to mention, on my face).”

Victoria Chan (Beauty & Health Editor): La Prairie Cellular Radiance Cream Blush
“I’m a girl absolutely mad for her blush—and La Prairie’s Cellular Radiance Cream Blush is my new obsession. The last thing I want to do when I wake up in the morning in this summer heat is cake on the makeup. This cream blush goes on light with just a brush of the fingertips and lights up my face with such a luminous summer glow that I find I barely need any other makeup—perfect for this humid month.”

Devora Neikova (Lifestyle Editor): Benefit High Beam
“This highlighter is perfect all year round, but especially in this season to give you that radiant glow. It can be worn underneath or on top of your regular makeup. It’s lovely to just put on your cheekbones and browbones for a subtle radiance, and looks especially great on a glowing tan. They also do Moon Beam and have recently come out with Sun Beam, which is a more summery product, although I haven’t tried it yet.”

Nell Alk (Copy Editor): Luminology Soy Candles
“My favorite product for July would have to be Luminology’s high quality candles. These cruelty-free candles take the (vegan) cake. Not only is the wax 100% renewable, sustainable soy sourced from farmers in the USA, but each vessel is also crafted locally by artisans in a waste-free studio. Plus, the fragrances are phthalate-free. Candles are completely customizable, too: choose from among 15 different fragrances that are then hand-poured into one of 15 different glazed bowl shades. (And, if you’re allergic to everything, they also an offer unscented option. I myself favor Spa.) The result is stunning and no two are alike given the endless selection for mixing and matching. Then, when the candle’s natural wooden wick has run its course, the beautiful porcelain piece can be used for anything from enjoying dairy-free ice cream to storing paperclips. Basically, I love Luminology! Cannot recommend enough as pretty much the perfect go-to gift.”

So there you have it—stay tuned for our staff faves for August!
