Tune of the Week: Dave Matthews Band’s “Gaucho”

Guess who announced a winter tour earlier this week? That’s right, the Dave Matthews Band are hopping on that old tour bus once again, but this time with some new material. Our tune of the week, “Gaucho,” comes from DMB’s eighth and latest album, Away From The World. Oh, and did we mention this is their sixth straight album to debut at number one?

Our video is from the song’s live debut at The Woodlands in Texas. The optimistic song is brimming with hope, urging, “We got to do much more than believe if we want to see the world change.” But the song’s origins weren’t as sanguine. “My daughters and I were watching a documentary on Yellowstone, and it talked about how the volcano erupted 600,000 years ago and covered a third of North America in ash,” Matthews said to Rolling Stone. “My daughter said, ‘Would that kill us?’ and I said, ‘There’s a far greater chance human beings won’t survive long enough to see the next time it erupts.’”

Regardless, we love the song! Make sure to check out dates for his winter tour here!
