Want Great Skin? Try These Diet Tips!

While it might seem like common sense to most people that your diet has a large impact on your skin’s appearance, the mass appeal of the cosmetics market indicates otherwise. Although wishful thinking may lead us to believe that our skin problems can be resolved with a particular cream or “magic” lotion, the simple truth is that your diet has a larger impact on your personal appearance than anything Almay or Neutrogena could possibly deliver. Here are a few nutritional tips to take your skin from no-show, to warm glow.

1.) Eat More Salmon! – Salmon is one of the healthiest things you can eat, so it’s no surprise that it has some serious skin benefits to boot. The omega-3 fatty acids prevalent in salmon allow your skin cells to flush themselves of toxins and strengthen the membranes that retain moisture, resulting in more vibrant skin.

2.) Cook with Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Extra Virgin Olive Oil, or “EVOO” as it is colloquially referred to, contains a number of good fats that provide the vitamins and minerals to keep your skin naturally moisturized. Don’t overdo it, however, as EVOO contains quite a decent amount of calories, and should be used sparingly if you’re looking to keep your waistline slim.

3.) Drink Tons of Water – Many Americans go about their lives in a perpetual state of mild dehydration, which impacts energy levels, immune system response, and your skin’s natural ability to lubricate itself. Instead of holding yourself to a set amount of glasses to drink per day, simply fill (and refill) a water bottle and drink like it’s going out of style!
